Pupin spoelen werden (worden?) toegepast voor signaalverbetering op lange afstands telefoonkabels (tussen de centrales) door de zelfinductie op de lijn te verhogen. Het is een spoel met een dubbele wikkeling en hoge zelfinductie (typisch 88mH)
